The American Ballet Theatre of New York City Ballet has been granted permission from the US government to perform at the 22nd International Festival of Havana.
The Festival runs from October 28 to November 7 and will feature a special tribute to the 90 year old prima ballerina, Alicia Alonso
The ABT has not performed in Cuba since 1960.
The Festival will also feature performances by the Royal Ballet of London, the National Ballet EspaГ±ol, La Scala and Teatro ColГіn Ballet among others.
Alonso was a member of the ABT in the 1940s. She debuted with the character of Giselle in 1947, regarded by the international critics as her top performance.
